2008 Meritorious Service Honorees
Each year, USA Volleyball presents Meritorious Service Awards to individuals and/or groups that provide outstanding contributions to the sport of volleyball across the country. Each Region is allowed to nominate and select up to five individuals or groups for this recognition each year. The Carolina Region is pleased to announce the following individuals as recipients of 2008 Robert L. Lindsay Meritorious Service Awards. All award recipients will be recognized in the 2009 USA Volleyball Guidebook. A listing of all previous winners of Carolina Region Meritorious Service Awards can be found here.
2008 HONOREES:
* Jenna Hinton - Jenna has worked in our High Performance Program as a coach. She has run tournaments for the Carolina Region for many years. She created the Youth Volleyball Program for Triangle Volleyball Club which has introduced volleyball to over 500 kids in grades 2-8.
* Linda Lang - Linda has been a coach and player in the Chapel Hill area for many years. She showed her dedication to the sport and desire to improve volleyball opportunities for those in the Chapel Hill area by building a one-court facility in her back yard in 2007.
* Rick Laskey - Rick is a transplant member who moved to North Carolina from Ohio in 2003. He is a National Referee and gives numerous clinics in the Carolina Region. Rick is a huge supporter of the Special Olympics in North Carolina and across the world.
* Jean Lojko - Jean is the Head Volleyball Coach at Greensboro College. She has run several tournaments for the region over the past four years. She is also instrumental in hosting the High Performance summer camps on the Greensboro College campus.
The Carolina Region would like to thank each of these individuals for their continued support of volleyball in North Carolina! Without people like these, the Carolina Region would not be where it is today. If you have a chance to meet these honorees or any previous year’s winners, please thank them for their many contributions!
If you would like to nominate someone for a 2009 Meritorious Service Award, please contact the Region Office. Any person or group that works to promote volleyball in some way is eligible.
