The Carolina Region will host a USA Volleyball High Performance National Tryout for Boys and Girls on March 8, 2013 in Raleigh.
Both Tryouts will be held at the Raleigh Convention Center on Friday, March 8. The Girls Tryouts will be from 5 - 8 pm. The Boys tryouts will be from 6:30 - 9:30 pm.
The USAV High Performance Department is the pipeline to our Men’s and Women’s National Teams. The tryouts that we run across the country place players into appropriate HP Programs for their current skill level based on their tryout evaluation. HP Tryouts serve as a talent search for the top players in the country to compete for spots on our Youth and Junior National Teams as well as the National Training Teams at all levels that train and compete in the High Performance Championships or in the Future Select National Training Program for the youngest players. But HP Tryouts serve a much larger purpose as well – many players who attend will probably not be in consideration for one of our top teams due to their current skill level, but will make a program level that matches their ability. We work to provide an invitation to up to 80% of the participants. They are then able to register for a USAV HP training program with other players who are also at their level. HP camp programs are competitive and offer some of the top coaching talent in the country. Regardless of what program a player attends, the staff is teaching the same cues, techniques, and systems that our National Teams use in their gym. The instruction is some of the highest quality available and places an educational focus on competing at the international level. It is a fun way to place what we do here in the United States through our club and school systems into the larger frame of reference of the world stage and realize that volleyball is a world-wide, lifetime sport with a multitude of opportunities throughout a player’s life. In addition, receiving great summer training benefits every athlete and ultimately strengthens not only the HP Pipeline but also volleyball in every USAV Region.
