Each year, USA Volleyball presents Meritorious Service Awards to individuals and/or groups that provide outstanding contributions to the sport of volleyball across the country. Each Region is allowed to nominate and select up to five individuals or groups for this recognition each year. The Carolina Region is pleased to announce the following individuals as recipients of 2005 Robert L. Lindsay Meritorious Service Awards. All award recipients will be recognized in the 2006 USA Volleyball Guidebook. A listing of all previous winners of Carolina Region Meritorious Service Awards can be found here.
Maria Byars - Maria is a founder of the annual High School Great Eight tournament which brings the finalists from the previous season’s State Championships together for a pre-season High School tournament. She also is a supplier of volleyball apparel and goods at countless tournaments each season as well as the official award vendor for the Regional Championships for the past two seasons.
Casey Caram - Casey is a Junior club director and coach in the Triangle area. He became a tournament director this season for the Region. He has also been a High Performance Coach for the region for the past three seasons.
Hal Clifton - Hal is a Junior club coach in the Fayetteville area. He also has run some tournaments this season. He has been a High Performance Coach for the region for the past three seasons.
Scott Huettel - Scott served as Men’s AA Rep for the Region Board of Directors since 2003. Scott was instrumental in developing the new Points System being used by the adults and juniors this season.
The Carolina Region would like to thank each of these individuals for their continued support of volleyball in North Carolina! Without people like these, the Carolina Region would not be where it is today.
