Karl Owen, President of CR Board of Directors

The 2006-2007 USA Volleyball season is well under way, and the Carolina Region is running smoothly. We have 407 teams playing in the Region this season (54 Adult teams, 353 JO teams). We are serving a record number of members this season.

Kevin and Chuck are doing an admirable job of keeping things running well. For the past several months Kevin has been focused on getting all the teams and playered registered, handling tournament registrations, reporting results, and helping members with any questions they may have about the whole process. Meanwhile, Chuck has been holding officiating clinics, tracking results and helping teams meet their officiating requirements.

The Board of Directors met in January to review the season against the plans we made at the annual retreat in August. As usual, we found a few things to adjust based on the first few tournaments, but overall we felt that the season was going well. We hope you agree.

Please remember that whatever your role within the Region that you are an ambassador of our sport. The concepts of sportsmanship and teamwork are important to our success both in volleyball and in life, and we should all strive to set a good example, as players, coaches, officials, and parents, and in both JO and adult volleyball.

As always, the Staff and Board of the Carolina Region are interested in your feedback. Please feel free to contact any of us with your suggestions and ideas for making the Region a better place to play volleyball.
