Office Notes

Kevin Wendelboe, Director of Operations

Well, this newsletter is being posted a little later than I had hoped. But better late than never, I guess! This online edition will serve as a wrapup to the 2005/2006 season. We hope to produce another newsletter in October/November to kick off the 2006/2007.

We had another successful season in 2005/2006:

I also want to highlight two outstanding finishes on the National level. We had an adult team win a National Championship last year, and now we have had a Carolina Region Junior team win a National Championship! CJV-Slam won the 18 National division National Championship in Atlanta. CJV-Rage finished third in the 16 American division in Atlanta for another great finish for one of our teams. Additional details are included in this newsletter on both teams' performances as well as results from all our teams that attended a USAV National Championship event. Congratulations to all!

This was the first season we went exclusively to the online registration system, and it seemed to go well. It will take awhile to educate everyone on our new procedures, but we are hopeful this will make things easier for individuals, clubs, and the Region. The goal is to let individuals register with the Region so that clubs will not have to deal with the paperwork every season. Clubs can concentrate on selecting teams and running their club. 2006/2007 Registration has begun - details are here - www.CarolinaRegionVB.org/Registration. The next newsletter will have more information on the upcoming 2006/2007 season.

2006 marked the 25th year of operations as the Carolina Region. We could not have done it without the support of countless volunteers and members throughout the years. I think most people would be amazed at what goes on behind the scenes to operate this organization and allow thousands of North Carolinians the opportunity to play the sport they love. My thanks to all volunteers and members, past and present, for all that they have done to allow the Carolina Region to achieve the success that it has. We are looking forward to the next 25 years, and we want YOU to continue to be a part of it. See you on the courts...
