(1) Pool Formats - we have shortened the 7-team pool format. In the past all teams played every other team over the entire day on two courts and then top 3 went to playoffs. It was a very long day for all. With the help of one of our Tournament Directors, we have come up with a shortened format. Each team will be seeded 1 through 7 (by Points Standings) and will play 4 other teams. The play schedule was made so all teams are playing about the same strength of teams based on "average seed played" as every other team during the day. The top six teams will make playoffs and will be seeded into the standard 6-team playoff with the top two seeds officiating the first round. With this schedule, the new 7-team pool will play about as long as the entire 5-team pool now plays so this should shorten the days for all teams drastically. As always, let us know your feedback on this once you have played under this format (only used if necessary obviously).
(2) Schedule - the current schedule dates are listed on the web site now. The Juniors will notice that we are now having some junior divisions play every weekend of the season. This was inevitable as we continued to grow. There just are not enough facilities available to accommodate our growth and insure that most of our teams can play. This change has been contemplated for several seasons, and we have finally needed to do it. Generally, we have very few coaches that also play in the adult tournaments, so hopefully this will not affect too many this season (and they can still play in any of the Adult December or Sunday tournaments). The growth in our juniors has been tremendous, but there will be growing pains as we try to find available facilities and tournament directors that can accommodate all our players. As always, that will be our goal so that everyone can continue to enjoy this great game!
