What's NEW in 2002!

There are some slight changes that everyone needs to be aware of going into this new Tournament Season:

  1. Pool Formats - Adults will still play 25 point rally games in pool play. Due to the tournament length at some Juniors Tournaments, all pool play matches will be 20 point games (start at 5-5 on scoreboard and scoresheets). Playoff matches will be 25 point games and if semi-finals begin by 6:30 pm, Tournament Directors will be encouraged to hold 2 out of 3 matches for semifinals and finals (but still may amend based on facility needs and coaches wishes).
  2. Tie-Breakers - the tie-breaker policy for adults has not changed from years' past. If teams tie for playoff spot, one game playoffs to 25 will be held (number depends on the number of teams tied for last playoff spot). The Juniors will have a slightly different Tie-Breaker procedure. If two teams tie for one playoff spot, the first tie-breaker will be the head to head results during pool play (one team must have won two games). If they split or if more than 2 teams are tied and no clear winner can come from pool play matches, then 15 point playoff games are played (number depends on the number of teams tied for last playoff spot).
  3. Libero - the Libero is designated PER GAME this season. Teams may still elect not to use a Libero and have 12 team subs.

Those are the main changes! Good luck!
